Fish Block

fish quilt block The cat block consists of rectangles and triangles. There are two fish blocks in the quilt. They can be made by the same method, then turn one over if you wish for it to face the opposite direction (mirror image).

Size (block sizes are given as unfinished blocks - not yet stitched together)

Each individual fish block measures 12.5" high x 12" wide

When all blocks and rows are stitched together, the quilt measures 36.5" high x 37.5" wide

All seams are 1/4".

Cutting Instructions: two fishes

Quantity to cut is in parentheses, and is enough to make 2 fish blocks. BG means background fabric.

Cut the 5.5" squares on the diagonal (one of fish fabric and one of background fabric). Cut again on the diagonal - this time in the opposite direction. Each 5.5" square is now cut into fourths.

Piece together as shown in the diagram. Stitch together into squares. Square down to 4.5". You will have two squares - enough for both fish.
