Doll Quilt Size

The finished doll quilt is 13.5" x 16.5"


Supplies: for 13.5" x 16.5" doll quilt

Fabric

* 1/2 yard total of assorted light and medium print fabric scraps
1/4 yard pink fabric for borders
15" X 18" piece of fabric for backing
15" X 18" piece of cotton batting

Other

thread
sewing scissors
quilting pins
large sewing ruler
fabric marking pencils
seam ripper
rotary cutter and mat (optional but nice)


Directions

1. Make Blocks

squares Cut 24 2" squares from the lighter fabric scraps. Cut 24 2" squares from the medium print fabric scraps.

Cut 2 1/2" strips from pink fabric. 

With right sides together and using a 1/4-inch seam, sew one lighter square to a medium print scrap square. Press.

Piece two pairs of squares into a block, flipping the darker squares opposite each other. 

Make 12 blocks.


2. Make Rows

create rows Sew three blocks together into a row. Make 4 rows. Press. Sew each row of three to the next row until you have sewn all four rows together. Press.


3. Attach Borders

Measure top and bottom of quilt and cut the pink border strips to fit. Sew border to top and bottom of quilt.

4. Finish Quilt

Layer quilt top with batting (middle) and backing. Quilt an X in the center of each block with a simple quilting stitch. Cut 1 1/2" strips from the binding fabric and attach binding using your favorite binding method.
