* 1/2 yard total of assorted light and medium print fabric scraps
* you can purchase as little as 1/8 yard on our website - enter .125 for quantity
1/4 yard pink fabric for borders
15" X 18" piece of fabric for backing
15" X 18" piece of cotton batting
Recommendedby CraftAndFabricLinks: seam ripper, sewing thread scissors (small, sharp scissors made for trimming thread), large sewing ruler, rotary cutter and mat.
Make Blocks
Cut 24 2" squares from the lighter fabric scraps. Cut 24 2" squares from the medium print fabric scraps.
Cut 2 1/2" strips from pink fabric.
With right sides together and using a 1/4-inch seam, sew one lighter square to a medium print scrap square. Press.
Piece two pairs of squares into a block, flipping the darker squares opposite each other.
Make 12 blocks.
Make Rows
Sew three blocks together into a row. Make 4 rows. Press. Sew each row of three to the next row until you have sewn all four rows together. Press.
Attach Borders Measure top and bottom of quilt and cut the pink border strips to fit. Sew border to top and bottom of quilt.
Finish Quilt
Layer quilt top with batting (middle) and backing. Quilt an X in the center of each block with a simple quilting stitch. Cut 1 1/2" strips from the binding fabric and attach binding using your favorite binding method.
