Quick & Easy!
This is a very easy project, and can be done very inexpensively. Dress up an old pair of flip flops or start with a new pair. Use your own creativity to showcase your style. Add a button, pin or other decorative item to finish the look.
SUPPLIES - ribbon project
1 pair of rubber flip flops (can be found at stores such as Old Navy for $3.50 each or 2 for $5.00)
Ribbon: 2 yards 5/8" ribbon for straps; 8-10 inch piece of 1/8" ribbon for small bow
Hot glue gun, hot glue sticks
Scissors
Miscellaneous decorations such as ready made bows, beads, "jewels", flowers, etc.
DIRECTIONS - ribbon project
1. Remove all tags from flip flops and cut a long piece of the wider ribbon (approximately 2 feet) to cover the straps.
2. Glue one end of the ribbon to the base of one flip flop strap.
3. Begin tightly wrapping the ribbon around the strap.
4. When you get to the part of the flip flop that goes between the toes, you can either continue wrapping the ribbon onto the next strap or wrap it around the part that divides the toes. For our flip flops, we wrapped the toe divider. Start to wrap the second strap, then wrap the divider piece, then continue onto the second strap.
Continue wrapping down around the divider piece that goes between the toes.
5. When you get to the base of the second strap, cut any extra ribbon off. Glue the ribbon end onto the second strap's base.
Beautiful!
SUPPLIES - bling project
1 pair of rubber flip flops (I found my pair at Hobby Lobby)
Peel & stick bling (I used four rows per sandal - two sheets total)
Button, pin or other decorative item
DIRECTIONS - bling project
1. Remove all tags from flip flops.
2. Following instructions on your "gems" peel them from the backing and attach them to the sandal.
3. Pin the decorative item through the flip flop. If your decor is not a pin, use a hot glue gun to attach the decorative piece.
